Ensign Peak!
This past Sunday was such a great day! My good friend, Jordan, and I have been friends now for about 3 1/2 years. He is such a great friend and he knows me way too well haha! I was having a rough weekend and knew just what I needed to cheer me up.
He told me he had a surprise for me (which I was hoping was his mom's delicious pasta salad) but he told me to bring my walking shoes...which I knew coming from Jordan meant, we were going hiking. So he came to pick me up and laughed when I asked if I could wear flips flops for my "walking shoes" haha That should have been a pretty good sign right there that I was not the hiking type! So I changed into my tennis shoes and we were off. We drove through downtown and up into the avenues and got to the bottom of Ensign Peak! I was so excited because I had never hiked Ensign Peak before. I looked up
thinking it couldn't be that hard of a hike and plus, Jordan told me it was a piece of cake! Ha!! Apparently Jordan didn't know that I haven't hiked in 4+ years!! So after about 25 minutes and 3 good stops for me to not pass out, we finally made it to the top! And it was completely worth it. It was such a beautiful view of the whole Salt Lake Valley. It was so peaceful and nice to just sit and talk to one of my best friends about life. We goofed off and took some fun pictures and just hung out for about an hour. He also had to point out as the heavier
or elderly couples reached the top that they could do the hike haha Thanks Jordan, I was very well aware of how out of shape I was!! He had also packed a lunch/dinner for us to eat at the top but it got really crowded after a while. So we headed back down... which was the easy part! On our way down we stopped to take our picture on this ledge and a guy offered to take it for us. We noticed he had hiked up the front of the mountain which is pretty much just a straight down slope and pretty impressive if you ask me. So we got talking to him for a minute. He was completely deaf but could actually speak pretty well so we could understand him.
He was such a nice guy and it was fun meeting him! Then we made our way back to the car and went back to my place to eat our dinner! We had his mom's yummy broccoli salad (almost as good as her pasta salad), tuna & crackers, grapes, starbursts, and gatorade! Overall, it was such a great night! I am so lucky to have Jordan as one of my best friends. He is always there for me and always knows how to cheer me up :) Thanks Jordo!!
